DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Thomas Wagstaffe, London, verge fusee with calendar, 54mm, silver OF original pair cases bearing London hallmarks for 1785, casemaker's "T C" marking in cameo, "Wagstaffe London" marked white enamel dial, gold hands, hour and minute are beetle and poker style, KWKS, verge escapement, diamond endstone, gilt mvt with pierced and ornately engraved foliate scrolled balance cock with urn at its neck, signed gilt locking dust-cap, s#10091 with matching serial number to dust-cap. CONDITION:
Mvt: Running after a twist to start, good calendar function, virtually mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates, few fine scratches; nearly flawless dial with mild fine scratch inside 2; nearly mint hands; outer case shows light wear, an attractive (though somewhat splotchy and uneven) acquired patina apart from interruption by a sticker on rear and some surrounding lighter colored area where sticker once covered, no dents or dings, button latch with good function though with loss of much of button's cap; inner case shows little wear, scattered fine scratches and some small nicks to rear, no dents or dings; bow pivots freely; domed glass crystal with scratch left of center and few fine scratches elsewhere.
